Mosquito Joe is Making a Difference
While Mosquito Joe is best known for making outside fun again by treating yards to keep those pesky mosquitoes away, we’re also fighting mosquitoes beyond the back yard. For the fifth consecutive year, Mosquito Joe has utilized Mosquito Control Awareness Week to raise awareness about the importance of mosquito control and the dangers of mosquito-borne illnesses.
How Mosquito Joe is Helping
June 25th through July 1st, 2017 was the annual Mosquito Control Awareness Week, and once again we ran our “Beat the Bloodsuckers” campaign. During this week, for each new customer that signed up for a mosquito spray service, participating Mosquito Joe locations donated $10 to Nothing But Nets, a global grassroots campaign to raise awareness, funds, and voices to fight malaria. The $10 donation is the cost of one insecticide-treated bed net. These nets go to families in sub-Sahara Africa, where the risk of getting malaria is high, and resources are scarce. We are so happy to announce that we raised $14,100, resulting in 1,400 nets to help protect families from this prolific mosquito-borne disease!
Other Ways Mosquito Joe is Making A Difference
Aside from partnering with Nothing But Nets, some franchise locations organized blood drives and donations in honor of Mosquito Control Awareness Week through the Red Cross and other local partnerships. These additional efforts produced $6,353, bringing the total support raised over $20,000! CEO Kevin Wilson said, “Each year, Mosquito Control Awareness Week provides an opportunity to educate our consumers about pest control. We’re proud of the impact that we were able to make this year, doubling last year’s fundraising, through both of these partnerships and look forward to continue building momentum in upcoming months.”
Looking Toward the Future
While Mosquito Joe has grown at a rapid pace, we expect that growth to continue, especially with an increasing concern around Zika virus and prevalence of Lyme disease. As we continue building our franchises across the country, we can expect to increase participation in Mosquito Control Awareness Week significantly year after year, providing further awareness of mosquito control initiatives and doing our part to protect communities across the world from mosquito borne illness.
