Each year, the International Franchise Association (IFA) recognizes individuals for being outstanding owner-operators, exemplifying excellence in community, workforce, and diversity. This year, 97 individuals across the nation received the prestigious honor, and were recognized at the 2023 Annual IFA Convention in Las Vegas.

Buzz Franchise Brands is proud to share that three of our brands had franchise owners recognized! Nora Farhat with British Swim School, Kristin Humphrey with Home Clean Heroes, and Brent Berridge with Pool Scouts were all recognized as franchisees of the year. Each of these franchise owners had the qualifications required to be nominated, including serving their home communities, nurturing and empowering their workforces in ways that include career growth potential, and supporting their fellow franchisees. Get to Know These Franchisee of the Year Recipients Better

Nora Farhat - British Swim School of Detroit

Nora, owner of British Swim School of Detroit, is the true embodiment of a successful business owner, and it was no surprise to see her recognized for this great honor at the IFA Convention. The mother of three is the proud owner of six different businesses and works hard to set an example for her girls of what success looks like. She follows the franchise business model to a T, providing an excellent example for other franchise owners to see.

“Nora is an exemplary franchisee and is always looking for ways to expand her business and increase awareness for the brand,” said Ashley Gundlach, British Swim School president. “She is a leader and doesn’t hesitate to give advice to fellow franchisees. We are thrilled to see the IFA recognize her in this way.”

Kristin Humphrey – Home Clean Heroes of West Houston

Home Clean Heroes of West Houston owner, Kristin, has done an amazing job in just over a year of business ownership with Home Clean Heroes. Having come from a background in franchising as a franchise business coach, Kristin knows first-hand what it takes to run a successful business. She’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of her customers and employees, and has demonstrated to her fellow franchisees how to be a great owner.

"Kristin has made a major impact on our brand in the short period of time she has been part of the system," said Joe Delatte, Home Clean Heroes president. "She runs her business with passion and enthusiasm every day, while often spearheading the sharing of best practices among other owners in efforts to foster a sense of community.”

Brent Berridge – Pool Scouts of Sugar Land

Brent Berridge, owner of Pool Scouts of Sugar Land, has fully followed the Pool Scouts model from the start, and dedicated himself to building a thriving business over the past several years. Prior to owning a Pool Scouts, Brent was in the Marine Corps followed by 20 years as a manager at a chemical company. Brent’s strong background, paired with his love for his community and bringing families a much needed service, have made him a model franchise owner.  

“We couldn’t be prouder of Brent. His hard work and success deserve this sort of recognition. He is an inspiration to all franchisees and we’re extremely grateful to have him on our team,” said Pool Scouts president, Michael Wagner.  

We are so excited to see these franchisees recognized after all of the time and work they constantly put in to grow and nurture their business, and are confident they will continue to pave the way for future franchise owners as our brands continue to evolve!
