General Manager, Pool Scouts

Our growing, customer-focused local business is looking for a reliable, well-organized and sales-oriented General Manager to direct day-to-day operations. The General Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, leading sales efforts, and managing all aspects of field operations, including technicians, field supplies, and inventory. The position requires people management skills as well as P & L responsibility for our local operations business, which is in its fourth year and growing quickly. Must be a great fit with our passionate, fun and energetic culture.

The position reports to the Corporate Field Operations and Business Coach and is located in our Virginia Beach office. The compensation includes a salary, benefits package, and variable compensation based on the results of the business.


  • Sell initial and recurring service to residential pool owners via inbound calls

  • Proactively engage existing customer base through all channels of communication

  • Provide excellent customer service to existing and new customers

  • Manage customer work orders, invoicing and billing

  • Manage technicians, office staff, service schedules, and vehicle routing for a business with 1000 customers, multiple vehicles and many moving parts

  • Manage inventory of materials, chemicals and parts

  • Oversee financial aspects of local business including managing to a budget and to the income statement results

  • Represent business in local/community based marketing capacities


  • Sales-focused individual with at least 5 year of sales experience

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Computer savvy with strong software user skills

  • Positive can-do attitude and strong leadership skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • 7 years in a Management role with the ability to manage team of 15 technicians and additional office staff

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing to a budget

  • Route-based service business experience and strong people management skills

Additional Details

  • Full-time position with typical hours, Monday-Friday

  • Some weekend work and additional hours required during busy times of year (spring and fall)

  • Swimming Pool knowledge a plus
