For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow

Employee of the Month Carl Albert

We couldn’t be happier for Carl, our April employee of the month! Carl joined the BFB family in March of 2018 as the Pool Scouts Field Operations and Business Coach. Carl came to us with a background rich in pool industry knowledge. He exercises his wide variety of skills on an average day in the office - from making improvements and efficiencies to the current pool cleaning system, to breaking down data and spreadsheets, to being the go-to resource to all of our Pool Scouts franchisees for their every need. It’s fitting that Carl is our April employee of the month, since it’s already a season of celebration for him. He married the love of his life Sonia in late February. Congrats Carl and Sonia!

You Can Always Count On Carl

Not only is Carl a hard worker and smart thinker, but he’s always willing to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. One of Carl’s fellow employees said, "Carl works hard in supporting our franchisees by putting their interests first. He is never too busy to pick up the phone and answers countless calls at all times of the day and week. He is very conscientious in thinking through his words before he speaks - you know you can trust what he says." In addition to Employee of the Month recognition for the entire month of April, Carl will also be fostering the adorable and highly coveted Buzzy, featured here to the left with Carl.

Carl challenges us to step out of our comfort zone not only in the work that we do, but in expanding our culinary palette. He is always introducing people in the office to new adventurous restaurants in the area that we might not otherwise try. One of our favorite nearby places is Lumpia & Company, which has the traditional lumpia we all know of and enjoy, as well as lumpia with a modern twist - including BBQ chicken lumpia, buffalo chicken lumpia, and even a dessert pina colada lumpia!

A Few Insights from the Life of Carl

We asked Carl a few questions to find out what makes him unique, and he did not disappoint. Carl is indeed a one of a kind guy!

  • What is the worst pet you have ever had?
A big white rat named Ugly. He was a rescue rat, destined for a python's main course, but the python died and Ugly lived. He was the worst pet, because when I forgot to feed him he would escape, find me, and bite me on my toes.

  • At which store would you like to max-out your credit card? Why?
Alfa Romeo Dealership. I have always wanted one.

  • What was your favorite TV show when growing up? Why?
Dr. Who. A man that travels the universe, always with a beautiful "companion," has no job, smarter than everyone else, never dies and on first appearance he is just a strange fellow living in a blue call box :)

  • What are three things still left on your bucket list?
    1) Visit Israel and climb to the top of Masada
    2) Stand on the deck of HMS Victory
    3) Drive across Australia

We are thankful each and every day for the work that Carl has accomplished and continues to excel at. Thanks for everything you do Carl!
