Our Employee of the Month is a True Gift

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Sherry Boorsma! Sherry joined the Pool Scouts family in February 2022 and has played a pivotal role in supporting the Virginia Beach-Norfolk operation for Pool Scouts.  

Why We Love Sherry

Sherry consistently goes above and beyond to support others and keep our office running smoothly. Whether she's tidying up the café or using her special skills to fix the printer, she is an invaluable part of our team. Her dedication and hard work have been instrumental to the success of the Local Operations office. This past year, Sherry also played a key role on our Sanity Control Committee, planning and executing fun, stress-relieving activities for the entire company. She truly embodies the spirit of teamwork and excellence!

Get to Know Sherry Better

When Sherry isn’t running the Local Operations she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

What is something about you that most people don't know?

Some people know I was a Deputy Sheriff from 2003-2014, I worked at the jail for 4 years and 7 years in courts. This experience was a true calling from a higher being. I was meant to do this job! While there I also earned my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.

What is the most exciting thing you've ever done or experienced?

2007 I went on a fabulous cruise - We (a group of us) flew into Venice, Italy, and spent the night in a 300-year-old hotel (yes, it was haunted, at least my room was). The next day we cruised to another port of Italy. Then, the best part of the cruise was the three Greek Islands we visited – amazing people, food, architecture, excursions. Our final stop was Croatia - which was amazing, a lot of history there and it was beautiful.

If you could choose anywhere to go in the world, where and why?

I love to travel and see other countries-how they live, the food and spirits are all so different. ARCHITECTURE is really my thing. Next on the list is an England, Scotland, and Ireland trip.
