Hurray for Jay, our Employee of the Month for May!

Congratulations to our May employee of the month, Jay Canaday! Jay joined the BFB team in September of 2019 as a franchise business coach for British Swim School. On a daily basis, Jay is dedicated to providing excellent support to franchisees.  Over the past few months, which have been unpredictable and trying, Jay has remained a positive and steady resource to franchise owners, being proactive and clear in his communication on a regular basis. On top of that, Jay has taken on structural training improvements and revised budget templates, which have been major benefits to franchisees.

Before coming on board as a franchise business coach, Jay spent over 10 years at Liberty Tax and was involved in all aspects of franchising during his time there. From being a district manager, to a company store manager, to most recently being a regional manager, he’s very familiar with all parts of franchising. During his time as a regional manager, he managed a team that oversaw hundreds of franchise locations. This experience helped him dive right in to franchise coaching with British Swim School, in which he immediately impressed everyone with his clear communication, knowledge and confidence.

One fellow coworker said, "From the first day he joined BFB, Jay has been tireless in his support of the British Swim School franchise owners; a fact that is often commented on and recognized by franchisees. Since the onset of the Coronavirus he has doubled down his availability and support to the franchisees and completed two training webinars in April. He led the effort to develop a revised budgeting template and process for our re-opening plan, which has been very well received by the British Swim School franchisees. He also recently recorded three Business Acumen webinars for the Pool Scouts virtual training program. He is a true team player."

Get to Know Jay

Jay grew up in the Hampton Roads area. He and his fiancée Erica live in Virginia Beach and are currently fostering an adorable Border Collie St. Bernard pup named Mollie. When not hard at work, Jay enjoys going to the beach and playing a good game of chess. Here are a few questions he answered to help you to get to know him better.

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get? 

Definitely pizza. Hot, cold, day or night; it's always good.

Are you a morning or night person? 

I have always said night person but as I have gotten a little older I find myself in bed by 9pm most of the time, so I'm not sure I can say that anymore. 

What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer? 

I like to sit on the beach during the day and then go see live music or come home and cook on the grill in the evening.

Jay has been crushing it ever since he started, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work he’s put in.
