Franchising Focus: Giving Back

At Buzz Franchise Brands, we believe in giving back to the community. While our brands provide people with services that help them focus more on their free time, our commitment goes much deeper than that. Since the month of October is a big one for us here at BFB, we thought it was fitting to share some of our passions we’re involved in across the different brands to help make our community a better place.

Our Heroes Are More Than Grime-Fighters

Home Clean Heroes is a proud partner of Cleaning For A Reason, an international nonprofit serving patients undergoing cancer treatment. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we highlight this effort so that families facing this battle can find out more about taking something off their plate while they go through such an emotional time.

Home Clean Heroes - Heroes Fighting Hunger Team

As part of the program, Home Clean Heroes provide patients with two complimentary housecleaning services. The only requirement is that the homes be within the company’s existing service areas in South Hampton Roads including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. Home Clean Heroes also participated in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk this past weekend, raising awareness and funding for breast cancer research.

Starting in November, Home Clean Heroes will also participate in Heroes Fighting Hunger for the second year in a row. We collect grocery store gift cards, canned goods and other non-perishable items during the entire holiday season to benefit the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. The donation of this collected food is in January, since we know there is often a huge focus on the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, resulting in a shortage of food in the following months.

Pool Scouts Puts Safety First

Kinsey and Jake running St. Jude’s Half Marathon

Pool Scouts is a proud partner of USA Swimming Foundation, an organization dedicated to spreading awareness about the importance of learning how to swim. While National Water Safety Month is in May, water safety is a year-round priority for us, and partnering with this organization helps children to be provided with the information and resources to learn swimming skills all year long.

During Water Safety Month, Pool Scouts franchisees had the opportunity to donate 5% of their revenue to the USA Swimming Foundation to provide swim lessons to children, regardless of their ability to pay in an initiative called “Make A Splash.”

We also love when our franchisees take the initiative in starting an effort they are passionate about. Our Pool Scouts of Memphis franchise owners, Jake and Kinsey, participate in Close For A Cause each year. Every fall, they participate in this fundraising initiative that donates $20 from every pool closing to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to end childhood cancer. Jake and Kinsey also participate in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend each year and run the half marathon on behalf of Team Carson Elizabeth. This is their fourth year participating in the half marathon. We are so proud of the passion they put into making a difference!

Survival of the Littlest

The mission of British Swim School is “Survival of the Littlest” which directly translates into their services providing survival and stroke development lessons to infants, children and adults. Many of our franchisees have had personal incidents with loved one involving drowning or water scares, making this a cause that is especially personal to them.

British Swim School DMV was seeking a way to give back to the local community and to provide swim lessons to underprivileged children because sadly, the kids who are most at risk for drowning are also those from families where the cost of swim lessons cannot be a financial priority. British Swim School met the team from Hope Floats at the U.S. Swim School Association (USSA) national conference in November 2018 and became a Founding Member right away! Through this relationship, Hope Floats vets families to determine their financial need, and for those who qualify, British Swim School DMV provides free swim lessons.

Over the past year, through multiple local efforts such as fundraisers and silent auctions, British Swim School DMV has raised $5,700, providing 17 scholarships for families in need of swim lessons. Hope Floats has proven an amazing partner to work with, providing guidance and support along the way to make this partnership possible.

With the passion being poured into these various efforts across brands, it fills our hearts to be able to be a part of something bigger that makes a difference in our local communities.
