No Tricks, Our Employee of the Month is A Real Treat!
Congratulations to Melissa McGarvey, our October Employee of the Month! Melissa is the Director of Aquatics for British Swim School, and we are so happy to have her as a member of the Buzz Franchise Brands family! Our resident Canadian, Melissa resides with her husband in London, Ontario and enjoys trying new beers and making the perfect music playlist for any occasion in her spare time.
Get To Know Melissa Better
As the Director of Aquatics, Melissa spearheads the British Swim School water survival and stroke development swim training program for franchisees and their aquatics team. She travels to different British Swim School locations across the United States and Canada teaching proper water safety and swim techniques, working directly with children in pools to provide a hands-on example and give swim instructors the knowledge and skills to confidently teach students of all ages and abilities. Melissa has made a huge impact on local communities throughout North America through her training and education program, supporting our mantra of “Survival of the Littlest.”
Melissa is not only a key member of the British Swim School team that makes their work possible, but she is also a pleasure to work with. As soon as you meet Melissa, her warm personality and sense of humor make you feel like you’ve known her forever. One coworker said, “Melissa has been a pleasure to work with over the past few months. Her upbeat attitude lightens the atmosphere wherever she goes! She has a passion for teaching kids to swim, cares about our franchisees and always acts with purpose. She is also well known for bringing the ketchup chips when she comes down to visit corporate!"
More About Melissa
Here are some fun facts to help you get to know Melissa better outside of her role at work!
What was your favorite toy as a kid?
My favorite toy was the Fisher Price record player.
Have you ever had a poem or a song written about you?
I have. I got married July 2018 and my father in law wrote a beautiful poem for me and read it during his speech. The poem was the alphabet with a descriptive word about me for each letter...all the way from A to Z!
Which store would you like to max out your credit card at and why?
I would have to keep in line with my favorite childhood toy and say my local record shop. Endless hours of vinyl records to listen to!
What are three things still left on your bucket list? Travel to Spain, learn to speak another language and write/publish a book (humor based). It's an adult choose-your-own-adventure book!
Melissa truly reflects all of our core values in the work that she does. Thanks Melissa for all of the incredible work that you’ve done both for our team here at Buzz Franchise Brands and for children and families across the US and Canada.
