Putting people first is one of, if not the most, important things a business can prioritize. When employees are truly happy and feel valued, their work reflects it. In the case of Buzz Franchise Brands, as a company that is investing in the livelihoods of franchise owners, it’s especially important to make sure that the people supporting these business owners feel satisfied to provide the best support possible.
In the words of the Top Workplaces website, “Creating a Top Workplace is about more than offering great benefits and vacation time. It’s about putting employees first.” We couldn’t agree more! While benefits, vacation time, and pay are absolutely an important part of any company’s offerings, there are so many other components that go into making employees feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
For example, our leadership team, including CEO Kevin Wilson, makes a dedicated effort to get to know each employee at the company. It’s not uncommon for Kevin to pop in and ask how that vacation you’ve been planning went, or to share a story from one of his previous jobs, usually with a small life lesson built in. The leadership team also provides transparency into the company’s performance, and welcomes ideas from all employees, empowering them to share ideas and think strategically without fear of being shut down.
The company also does an amazing job of showing each employee how they fit in to the company’s overarching goals. Each year, our brands have goals tied to growth and revenue, and each employee’s performance plan has action items that directly tie into those larger goals, so that each person knows how they’re contributing to the success of the company. Having that clear purpose is so important and being able to answer the “why” of each person’s job function makes daily work that much more rewarding.

Inside Business Top Workplace Honoree Celebration
To celebrate this amazing honor, Inside Business invited 2023 Top Workplace winners to a lunch at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. The first hour was dedicated to networking with other honorees and playing games. The second hour included lunch as the winners were announced.
